Starting in 2004, import regulations in Canada made it difficult for us to ship our products into Canada from the U.S. and virtually impossible for us to ensure delivery to Canadian addresses. And, at that time, we stopped accepting orders with ship to addresses located in Canada. Today, there is a change for the better!
In April of 2013, we received an email from Health Canada, specifically, the Border Integrity Unit of Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate in Ottawa. Here is what they had to say about the Personal Importation of CoQ10 supplements into Canada:
“CoQ10 supplements are classified as Natural Health Products (NHPs) in Canada. The following requirements apply to the personal importation of NHPs as per the Guidance Document on the Import Requirements for Health Products under the Food and Drugs Act and its Regulations (GUI-0084):
“Individuals are permitted to import a single course of treatment or a 90-day supply based on the directions for use, whichever is less, of an NHP. The NHP must be for the individual’s own personal use or for the use of a person for whom they are responsible and with whom they are travelling.
The NHP must be shipped/carried in one of the following:
· Hospital or pharmacy dispensed packaging;
· Original retail packaging; or
· Have the original label affixed to it which clearly indicates what the health product is and what it contains.”
For more information on the personal importation of NHPs, you may access the guidance document GUI-0084 on the Health Canada website through the following link: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/compli-conform/import-export/gui-0084_biu-uif-eng.php
Please be advised that different importation requirements apply to medications with ingredients listed on Schedule F, annexed to the Food and Drug Regulations, which can be accessed at: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/F-27/C.R.C.-c.870/index.html”
By our reading of this information, you, as an individual would be permitted to import some but not all of our CoQ10 products. For example, you should be able to import ChewQ 600mg as per the label directions it would be considered a 60 day supply (less than the 90 day maximum). You would NOT be allowed to import Q-Gel CoQ10 in the larger bottles – like 500 or 1,000 count bottles as per the label directions, these bottles would be over the 90 day-supply based on the directions for use.
Therefore, before ordering any CoQ10 product for personal importation into Canada, please read the label copy and Import Requirements carefully to be sure that you are in compliance with all HC directives.
